Braves to celebrate Hank Aaron Night on April 8
Team to honor 30th anniversary of milestone
The Atlanta Braves will celebrate the 30th anniversary of Hank Aaron's milestone 715th home run on Thursday, April 8 when the Braves host the New York Mets at Turner Field. Several special events are planned throughout the evening to honor Mr. Aaron's achievement.
Prior to the game, the Braves organization will make a donation to Mr. Aaron and representatives of his Henry Aaron Chasing the Dream Foundation. In addition, a video tribute honoring Mr. Aaron's career will be presented, and his wife, Mrs. Billye Aaron, will sing the National Anthem. Several special guests have been invited to be in attendance and to take part in the celebration, including former teammates Phil Niekro, Rod Gilbreath, Ralph Garr, Davey Johnson, Dusty Baker, Mike Lum, Sonny Jackson, Vic Correll, Marty Perez, Ron Reed, Darrell Evans and Buzz Capra. Los Angeles Dodgers' pitcher Al Downing, who gave up the historic home run, has also been invited, as has Tom House, the Braves reliever who caught the home run in the bullpen.
The Braves will wear 1974 throwback uniforms during the game, and along with other Braves collectibles, will be auctioned off on atlantabraves.com immediately following the game. The proceeds from the auction will benefit the Braves Foundation and the Chasing the Dream Foundation. All fans in attendance will receive a special commemorative 30th anniversary of 715 Hank Aaron giveaway item. Facts and trivia about Mr. Aaron will be presented throughout the game presentation on the BravesVision board.
Prior to the evening's activities, a special VIP pre-game reception will be held in the 755 Club for Mr. Aaron and his guests.
